A very large butternut with a long curved neck giving more richly coloured and sweet tasting flesh, perfect for roasting. Fruit stores very well. For indoor sowing
When March to May.
Where In small pots of moist compost.
How Sow singly into pots edgeways into compost. Cover with a fine layer of compost. Cover with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at approx. 15-20°C. Seedlings appear 7-21 days.
Care Remove cover when seedlings appear. At 5-6 leaf stage stand outside for a few days (avoid frosts). Transplant 90cm apart in growing position. Keep moist and weed free.
Harvest September to November.

How Sow 2 seeds per position 90cm apart. Cover lightly with fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist.
Care When large enough thin to one seedling per position. Keep moist and weed free.
Harvest September to November. Stores for weeks in a cool, dry, frost free location. When fruits start to swell give a liquid feed every 7-10 days.
