Easy to grow leaves, to flavour fish, potatoes, sauces and more, also great as a decorative garnish. The seeds can be used for pickling and in stews. For indoor sowing
When All year round for pots indoors.
Where In pots or trays of moist compost.
How Sow thinly, cover lightly with compost. Firm gently. Cover with clear glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at 15-20°C. and keep moist. Seedlings appear 14-21 days.
Care Transplant to 15cm pots of compost, place in a light airy location.
Harvest All year round. Pick the leaves as required.
For outdoor sowing
When May to June.
Where In growing position.
How Sow thinly, cover lightly with fine soil.
Care When large enough thin as necessary, spacing 20cm apart.
Harvest Pick leaves as required from June to November. Pick seed heads when light brown (outdoor crops only). After drying shake out the seeds and store in an airtight container. Add leaves just before cooking is complete for maximum flavour.
