Unusual foliage with purple flowers and sea-blue bracts. A drought tolerant sun lover, great in borders or containers. Also known as Honeywort. For indoor sowing
When February to May.
Where In trays of moist compost.
How Sow thinly. Cover lightly with a fine layer of compost. Firm gently. Cover with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at 15-20°C. Keep moist. Seedlings appear 14-28 days.
Care Remove cover when seedlings appear. When large enough transplant singly into 7.5cm pots of compost. Gradually acclimatise plants to outside conditions from late May onwards (avoid frosts). Then transplant 25cm apart to flowering position. Keep moist and weed free.
Flowers June to October, the same year. Will often self seed where happy, for new plants the following year.
