When All year round.
Where In pots or trays of moist sandy compost.
How Sow thinly, cover with a fine layer of compost or silver sand. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at approx. 20-25°C. Germination may be erratic. Seedlings appear 2 weeks to 3 months.
Care Remove cover when seedlings appear. When large enough transplant singly into 5cm pots. Water sparingly to prevent damping off. Grow on until ready for potting on into larger pots, or plant a selection of varieties into a large bowl for an attractive indoor garden. Water very sparingly every 8 weeks in winter and every 1-2 weeks in summer. A liquid feed is recommended once or twice in summer. Keep plants at a minimum temperature of 10°C in winter.
Flowers Larger, mature plants may flower in spring or summer. Keep plants at a minimum temperature of 10°C in winter.
