Extremely popular and hardy long pod variety, ideal for early sowings. A well established, cold tolerant variety with white seeds. Produces large crops of long pods with 8-9 good flavoured beans in each. A favourite variety in Italy, often used in pasta dishes. For outdoor sowing
When October to November or through to early February if soil is not too cold or waterlogged.
Where In a prepared seed-bed.
How, Sow in wide (double) rows 60cm apart with 15cm between seeds. Space in a zigzag pattern. Cover with 5cm of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist. Seedlings appear 14–24 days.
Care Protect with cloches in cold, wet weather. Keep moist and weed free. Plants may require support in exposed locations.
Harvest June to August. Pick regularly while beans are small and tender. Pinch outgrowing tip once lower pods have formed to deter blackfly.
