A 'non-earthy' tasting yellow variety which remains tender. The orange roots turn golden-yellow when cooked and have a wonderful flavour and texture. For outdoor sowing
When April to July.
Where In a prepared seed-bed.
How, sow thinly in rows 30cm apart. Cover with 2.5cm of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist. Seedlings appear 7–21 days. For continuous crops, sow every 2–3 weeks.
Care When large enough, thin to 10cm apart. Keep moist and weed free.
Harvest June to October, start to harvest when golf ball size for baby beet. Twist the tops off, as this prevents the sap from ‘bleeding’. Young baby leaves are edible and can be used in salads.
